AFTERMATCH at the EDU-DC Conference in Leverkusen

In recent days, the AFTERMATCH project took part in the International Conference on Dual Career, organised as part of the EDU-DC at the iconic BayArena in Leverkusen.

The event brought together more than 150 participants from 16 European countries to exchange knowledge, experiences and solutions for supporting young footballers on and off the pitch. AFTERMATCH was proud to be the only organisation representing Poland.

The conference provided an opportunity to explore the outcomes and key values of the EDU-DC project. The initiative takes Focus on supporting young football talents aged 16–21 in combining sporting development with education and personal growth.

A major advantage of the event was the opportunity to learn from experienced practitians. The programme featured workshops from representatives of national football associations, including the KNVB, Bulgarian Football Union, Danish FA (DBU), Football Association of Ireland and The Football Association from England. There were also presentations from leading European clubs – such as Bayer 04 Leverkusen, SC Cambuur, FC Emmen, Arsenal, Chelsea and TSG Hoffenheim. The project also brings together scientific partners, like Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

For AFTERMATCH, participation in the conference was an important opportunity to exchange perspectives and gain practical knowledge that can be applied in the Polish football environment. The experience and insights gained in Leverkusen will support us in further promoting the dual-career approach among clubs and sports organisations in Poland.

We would like to thank the organisers and all participants for the inspiring exchange and valuable discussions. We look forward to continuing the conversation about how football can better support young players in building their futures.

The EDU-DC: Dual Careers, One Goal project is co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Sport programme.
