The AFTERMATCH 2.0 Reload project was successfully presented during the EAS (European Athlete as Student) Conference, held from 6–8 October 2025 at the University of Latvia in Riga. This annual event brings together researchers, practitioners, and policy-makers committed to improving dual career pathways for athletes across Europe.
Showcasing the Role of Dual Career Officers
As part of UCAM’s contribution to the scientific programme, the presentation focused on the innovative role of the Dual Career Officer (DCO) – a central pillar of the #AFTERMATCH 2.0 Reload project approach.
The audience had the opportunity to learn about:
- The DCO model’s structure and its implementation across 8 European seminars
- The role of DCOs in guiding athletes through transitions in sport, education, and employment
- Tools and methods developed to support individualized planning and mentoring
- Feedback from participants and institutions involved in the project
The session emphasized how DCOs act as a bridge between the athletic and academic worlds, supporting long-term personal development beyond sport.
Positive Reception and Growing Recognition
The presentation received highly positive feedback from #DualCareer experts, university staff, and national stakeholders in the room. Many acknowledged the model’s clarity, practical applicability, and potential for adoption across various sport and education systems in Europe.
As the demand for structured dual career support grows, the #AFTERMATCH project continues to stand out for its innovative, people-centered solutions.
Visibility in the Scientific Community
Presenting #AFTERMATCH 2.0 Reload at the EAS Conference significantly increased the project’s visibility within both academic and professional circles. It also reinforced the idea that #DualCareer is not only a support mechanism for athletes – it is a long-term investment in their future.
