The AFTERMATCH 2.0 Reload project has officially reached its conclusion, closing an unforgettable chapter in our mission to promote and strengthen the #DualCareer model for athletes across Europe. What began as an ambitious idea evolved into a truly international journey filled with education, inspiration, collaboration and meaningful human connections.
Over the course of the project, the AFTERMATCH team and its partners dedicated hundreds of hours to workshops, seminars, mentoring sessions and dissemination activities – all focused on helping athletes better prepare for life during and beyond sport.
Eight Countries, One Shared Mission
One of the key pillars of AFTERMATCH 2.0 Reload was the international seminar series designed to train and empower Dual Career Officers (DCOs) – professionals who can support athletes in balancing sport with education, personal development and future careers.
The seminars took place across eight countries:
- Los Alcázares, Spain – UCAM Universidad Catolica de Murcia
- Kraków, Poland – Towarzystwo Sportowe IronMan
- Lisbon, Portugal – Sport Evolution Alliance
- Baku, Azerbaijan – Modern Youth Public Union
- Maribor, Slovenia – Zavod Dravska pot
- San Donà di Piave, Italy – FORCOOP Cora Venezia
- Patras, Greece – InterMediaKT
- Nicosia, Cyprus – MMC Management Center
Each seminar brought together coaches, educators, sport managers, NGO representatives and athletes from different cultural and professional backgrounds – united by a common belief that athletes deserve structured support beyond competition itself.
More Than a Project
AFTERMATCH 2.0 Reload was never just about workshops or presentations. It became a platform for exchanging ideas, building partnerships and shaping a growing European community focused on the future of athlete development.
Dozens of trained Dual Career Officers, countless discussions and new initiatives launched during the project proved that the dual career model is becoming an increasingly important topic within modern sport systems.
The project also showed that supporting athletes means more than improving performance. It means helping them navigate education, career planning, mental well-being and life transitions with confidence and purpose.
Thank You to Our Partners
The success of AFTERMATCH 2.0 Reload would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment of all project partners involved throughout the journey. Their knowledge, openness, local engagement and belief in the mission of dual career development played a key role in shaping the initiative and expanding its impact across Europe.
Together, we created something much bigger than a project – we built a community driven by shared values and a common vision for the future of sport.
This Is Not the End
Although AFTERMATCH 2.0 Reload officially comes to an end, our work in the field of dual career is only gaining momentum.
The second edition of the project opened our eyes even wider, introduced new perspectives, and generated countless ideas for future activities and collaborations. The conversations we had throughout Europe confirmed that the need for dual career support is stronger than ever.
AFTERMATCH is growing.
AFTERMATCH is evolving.
And very soon… it will enter a completely new chapter.
Stay tuned.
