From September 26–28, 2025, the Italian city of San Donà di Piave welcomed participants from across Europe for the 6th edition of the International Dual Career Officers (DCO) Seminar, organized within the framework of the AFTERMATCH 2.0 Reload project.
Building on the momentum of previous sessions, this seminar focused on practical tools, shared experiences, and real-world applications of the Dual Career Officer model – supporting athletes in navigating the challenging path between sport, education, and future employment.
Practical Knowledge Meets Local Inspiration
Over three days, participants – including coaches, sport staff, Dual Career Trainers, and youth professionals – engaged in interactive sessions covering topics such as:
- Assessing the needs of athletes and sports organizations
- Designing individual dual career plans
- Mentoring and supporting transitions beyond sport
- Collecting feedback and measuring impact
But the seminar was not only about theory and training. Participants also had the opportunity to visit the San Donà di Piave Sports Center, where they learned about the local infrastructure and support systems for youth and athletes. One of the highlights was a hands-on Dragon Boat activity on the river – a fun and symbolic exercise in teamwork, rhythm, and coordination.
Shared Purpose, Stronger Networks
The event strengthened the growing community of Dual Career Officers across Europe — professionals committed to empowering athletes with opportunities both during and after their sports careers. The feedback from participants confirmed that these seminars serve as more than just training events; they are spaces for motivation, exchange, and long-term collaboration.
Two Stops Ahead
With only two seminars remaining, the #AFTERMATCH 2.0 Reload project nears the conclusion of its training phase – but the mission continues.
The last two seminars will take place in Patras, Greece (October 5–7, 2025), and in Nicosia, Cyprus (October 23,25, 2025), where the journey of #DualCareer advocacy and empowerment will reach another milestone.
The project is co-funded by the European Union.
