Another step forward: AFTERMATCH becomes a Foundation!

We’re glad to announce that AFTERMATCH has taken an important step forward and officially became a foundation. The new chapter is planned as a natural continuation of our work and the experience gained throughout them. It also marks our commitment to taking these efforts further: developing new initiatives and providing long-term, practical support to athletes in the spirit of a dual career plan.

Our journey has been shaped by several international projects. Through “Life Beyond Sport”, “Side Hustle in Sport” and “AFTERMATCH 2.0 Reload” we’ve delivered an important knowledge and skills, which supported us in our further development. Currently we’re involved in “Silver Coaches”, an initiative supporting coaches aged 60 and over. Our goal is to continue their professional activity and share their experience with younger generations.

Establishing the AFTERMATCH Foundation is a significant change in our organisational structure. It creates a stronger basis for future projects. We want to move beyond individual initiatives and contribute to long-lasting, system solutions that make dual career a natural part of the sporting environment.

Our mission is to promote that model as the opportunity for athletes to develop simultaneously in sport, education and their personal lives. We believe that preparing for life after sport should begin while an athletic career is still ongoing. Education and personal development are an essential part of an athlete’s future.

We aim to:

  • promote dual career opportunities among young, amateur, semi-professional and professional athletes;
  • help athletes combine sporting commitments with education, professional development and personal growth;
  • prepare athletes for life and employment after their sporting careers;
  • develop the skills needed both on and off the pitch;
  • provide educational activities, workshops, training programmes and mentoring opportunities for athletes, coaches and sport organisations;
  • raise awareness of the challenges associated with retirement from sport and help prevent tchem;
  • build partnerships between the sporting, educational, business and social sectors to create better support systems for athletes.

We want to work closely with sports clubs, academies, federations, educational institutions, businesses, experts and other organisations that share our vision. Through training, research, educational programmes, cooperation and practical initiatives, we aim to make a real difference in the way athletes are supported through their career and beyond.
